In a meeting with UDI this week, the City of Coquitlam released a draft schedule of updated DCC rates. Across all product types, the average residential increase in the City will be 3%, lower than increases seen in recent years.

While there was relief that the increases weren't more severe, developers on the call urged the City to consider the cumulative impact of rising costs and new policies, such as building code changes, on project viability.

The new DCC rates are the latest in number of policy updates in Coquitlam, coming on the heels of the release of long awaited ACC rates earlier this month.

There’s still work to be done, particularly around ACCs, but Coquitlam is making progress in overhauling its development finance program. Whether these changes will help (or hurt) reignite the city’s residential development boom remains to be seen
