The City of Surrey is strategically leveraging its Housing Accelerator Funding (HAF) from the Government of Canada to advance construction of sanitary and stormwater drainage infrastructure in the West Clayton NCP area along 74th avenue between 181st and 188th Street. This investment is expected to open the West Clayton neighbourhood for construction of many long planned and approved developments.

A key component of the funding strategy is the City’s implementation of a Local Area Service (LAS) cost recovery program. While the upfront costs of the projects will be covered by the HAF, the $5.5 million cost of the sanitary sewer extension will be fully recovered through LAS fees, while the $9.4 million drainage sewer cost will be recouped via DCCs on future development in the area.

The long awaited servicing of this area will allow for the construction of many affordable condos and townhomes in a neighbourhood that already benefits from fantastic amenities.
